Paceman Gus Atkinson Exacerbates England's Fitness Concerns.

'Major setback' for the English camp after Atkinson goes off suffering a hamstring problem.

The English seamer further complicated the injury concerns plaguing England when he left the playing area during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.

The right-arm seamer pulled up with his left leg post-delivery of the fourth over during the morning session.

The England team reported the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and required time away from the action for further assessment "during the day".

The final Test in this Ashes battle in Sydney begins at the end of the week.

England have previously lost key quicks Mark Wood to a knee injury and Jofra Archer to a side strain on the current trip.

A replacement bowler was added to the party as cover for Wood.

The seamer had a tough time early in the series, taking just a handful of scalps.

He was dropped of the third Test, then recalled for the Boxing Day match as Archer's replacement.

Surrey's Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, taking two wickets in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs with the bat as one of just three teammates to reach double figures.

Following a brief spell late on the first day, he came back for the second day's play and removed Scott Boland edging to the keeper.

Unfortunately, towards the conclusion of his spell, he sent down a change of pace to the batsman and immediately felt at his leg.

The English bowler was recalled for the Boxing Day Test after being left out of the third.
