Iran Reports Strike on US Base in Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.

Thick black smoke was observed billowing above an site adjacent to the central command of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet.

Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have shot down missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," it added.

The statement noted missile fragments landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
