US performer Pat Finn, who appeared in popular television series like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed aged 60.

The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California recently after undergoing treatment for cancer since 2022, as reported by reports.

"He never met a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones stated in a statement.

They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".

A Prolific TV Career

Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.

He starred as the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, portraying a host who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on several well-known programs, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

He was most recognized for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight series from 2011 to 2018.

His cinematic roles encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Off-Screen Life

Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was involved with a six-person improv troupe known as "Beer Shark Mice".

"He guided, supported, and advised countless students over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he shared publicly.

Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
